About the Club

The club was started in 2005, I (John Parratt) was a member of SWARM (South West Amateur Rocketry Membership), based at Okehampton (Devon) at the time, but by good fortune, I was displaying at the Chapelton Steam Rally, Nr Barnstaple, where I live, and went to see the land owner, he gave me permission to use the top and bottom fields for rocket launching, the club has been here since then.

low power launches, that is A to E impulse, are launched in the lower field, and high power launches, F to J are launched in the top field, all launches are controlled by a qualified UKRA RSO, (United Kingdom Rocket Association, Range Safety Officer) and UKRA rules and codes of conduct are enforced, this is for safety.

All rocket launches, are electronically controlled, so there will be no mishaps, in case of a miss fire, all persons involved will heed the advice of the R.S.O.

The aim of the club, is to have fun, build and launch your own rockets, or watch others launch their rockets, all ages are welcome, those under 14 years of age, should be with a parent or guardian, the club is open to scout and girl guide organisations, sea and air cadets, youth clubs and schools.
