Januarys (2011) launch would have been good, it was a lovely day to launch rockets, but I was in bed with flu, so could not make it, Februarys meeting was cancelled due to the weather, as usual it was raining, and it was windy at the launch site, not good for launching model rockets, better luck next month.

I have just got back from holiday, and found that my hard drive on my computer had crashed, so it was a good job that I had backed up all my files, so I apologise if getting the website up to date has taken longer than it should, it has taken me longer to get my new computer up to speed, and up loading the files onto it, oh yes, I would recommend visiting 'California' to anybody, fantastic place to visit.

I am thinking of seeing the farmer (Alfie Milton) who owns the land we launch on, to see if the club can launch on either a Saturday or Sunday, so that we can launch on either day, if the weather is bad, at least then, the club can have a better chance of launching rockets, once a month, instead of cancelling a meeting, when there is bad weather.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
on the 17th and 18th September, the 'Chapelton Steam Rally', will be on, at the launch site, the club will be displaying in the model tent, and hopefully over the two day event, will be launching low power rockets in the arena for the public to watch, hopefully we might be able to launch a high power rocket, in the fields further back from the event, we will have to see how it goes.

James and his students have recently launched a high altitude balloon, and he has sent me some photographs from this project, which I will put on its own web page, they are good shots of the higher atmosphere.

Chapelton Steam Rally, was good on the Saturday, a little rain, but some sun shine at times, a lot of people where interested in the rocket club, and the display that I put on, had a couple of teachers interested in rocket work shop.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been in contact with Carolyn Butler, a teacher at Woolsery Primary School, about a rocket work shop, so I have ordered all the rocket packs they will need.

For the past few months, I have been building a Dobsonion telescope, last year I was given an 8 inch and a 12.75 inch primary mirrors, the 8 inch I will have to get re-aluminised, before I can build a telescope with it, but the 12.75 inch good, so I am building a telescope out of some 12mm ply, and other odds and ends, so I hope to have it finished soon, so I have written a page about, how I built the telescope.
